Quote from: dogwhisperer The problem being that there seems to be no engineer in my area with a brain cell, so its hard to believe even this ISP can do anything....
From what I've seen A&A are far more willing to give their BT account manager a hard time (remember Plusnet are part of the BT group - I suspect that has considerable influence on how stroppy they get with BTw).

The adsl engineer fitted an NTE5a for free - I had a GPO cover plate - so that tests could be carried out and, due to the 2 hour time restriction, came back three times. He kept me well advised all the time and listened to my thoughts as to what might be causing the problem.
The phone line failure was well handled. Initially one pair to house failed so second pair was used. This also failed a couple of weeks later and engineer was able to provide temporary phone connection by using good remaining wire from each pair.
Underground cable to house had to be replaced and some work was done by outside contractor - digging and laying new duct.
Engineer who came to fit new cable to house listened to my suggestion as to where it should run - I'd had longer to think about it than he had.
Overall we had one adsl + five phone engineers and only one was a bit off hand but he was the one who thought of temporary connection.

But when there is no competition I don't see what pressure they can put on the account manager as its not like they can say we will go to another supplier.......

Quote from: glloyd From my experience getting a engineer who has even a slight knowledge and a desire to fix the fault helps. Most, from what I've seen have very little knowledge of BB and even less desire to fix it. You can't blame the engineers because they receive very little training so have to hope it's a simple thing like a line fault. Anything more than that it's hit and miss with a hope if they twiddle something it may start working.
6 x BT engineers that have been to my house since the 1st of April have been next to useless, one even wired back up the orange ring wire, which just tells you how pathetic they are......their test equipment (JDSU) is designed for the US market which don't help either......

How the hell did you get them to do that, as I am sure thats what is the issue with my connection....

Existing cable had been left buried under lawn and new duct ( pipe) had been laid to house. It was then a case of running from duct to master socket. As our house ( semi-detached) is staggered from neighbour I knew it was possible to drill, at angle, through outside wall from master socket cavity and run cable from duct round outside of house and through wall. This wouldn't have been possible with conventional semi.
Engineer wouldn't have known this as there's a laurel hedge in way.

I'm sorry there haven't been any more notes available, HLE have emailed us to confirm they're still chasing the PTO team but nothing as yet. I'll be on the phone to them shortly and will update as soon as I have anything for you.

I already have my mac code......I suspect even plusnet would like me to use it......be one way to get me of their back......I certainly won't accept plusnet just wait around all day for BT to respond and do their usual and call them at the end of the day and respond here about 10 mins or so and go home before I have a have a chance to respond.....
Its not good enough that plusnet just accept this rubbish from BT and its not good enough for plusnet to just blame BT....all that does is let plusnet off the hook far too easily and gives plusnet an easy excuse for leaving me with no internet for a long period of time.......

Sorry for the lack of replies, I've just got off the phone with the HLE team and they've said they'll have an email to me with some details by close of play today. If I've heard nothing within the next hour I'll be back on the phone.
As we did say though, the PTOs are very hard to get hold of and can be called away to investigate any emergency issues - I'm not saying this has happened but I'm also not sure if they work over the bank holiday. Either way as soon as we have any information we'll let you know.

I suggest you don't wait around for BT (yet again) and get back onto them now and demand to know what is going on, they have had plenty of time to sort things out, its a joke to be held to ransom coz of some pathetic PTO team that have made the situation far worse than it was anyway, ie we are better off without them........
Escalate this to your boss or higher if need be to get this sorted.......
