Re: Major fibre broadband installation fail - plusnet

Maybe I'm doomed. There seems to have been yet another mixup on these appointments. The Installation never went ahead and I'm pushed back another week. Still on 0.7MBs and now I have Windows 10 upgrade on 29 July which will background download. It's only 3GB. 30MB takes 20 minutes to download right now.
Pray for me...        Cry

Really sorry to see this. I've passed your account onto someone in provisioning for an update.

Re: Major fibre broadband installation fail - plusnet

Hello - I've now been notified of the replacement installation date of 31 July 1:00 onwards.  I was told the last one failed due to an unnamed person within PlusNet apparently not noticing BT Wholesale had rejected the previous date.  Oh well, these things happen.
Matty, please, are we definitely on for this Friday? And do BT / Openreach comprehend they have - and I quote from CSC Support 10 July  - "advised that the routing issue has now been resolved and we are now in a position to reappointment the order"?    That is - Openreach / BT have a solution for our cable to the FTTC Cabinet 38?
I just have this gut-clenching feeling an OpenReach engineer will turn up, poke around and say "Sorry mate, do you realise you have an exchange-only line? I can't do nuffing..."  which is what happened the very first time around...    Shocked
Any reassurance most welcome!
(By the way - the SMS messages are not coming through to my phone even though you have the correct mobile number?)

Still on 0.7MBs

If you are that close to the exchange, why are you getting such poor speeds?

Re: Major fibre broadband installation fail - plusnet

I ordered fibre and the switch-over occurred despite the fact the line was not available and the installation failed (entirely BT / OpenReach's fault). That means my original broadband was 'switched off'. I was getting a pretty good speed under the old deal. I have to limp on 0.7 while waiting for BT to route my phone line to the FTTC cabinet which they appear to believe is easy to do. It's really, really frustrating but I am promised by BT they will set me up tomorrow afternoon.
The only thing is, I get this horrible gut feeling the engineer will turn up and find BT Wholesale have not re-routed the line as promised and he'll say "sorry mate, can't do it."     Undecided

Re: Major fibre broadband installation fail - plusnet

I AM CONNECTED   Cheesy
Thank you Matty! Thank you to Plusnet! It all came true in the end and we're sorted!
Thank you Plusnet team and commenters!

AARGH spoke too soon. Shocked     Our fibre generates a speed of...wait for it....1.7MBs. One point Seven.  And the BT Wholesale product test says we are only allocated 38MBPS a second when I ordered 60 in my upgrade package.
What on earth is going on?  Have BT forgotten to flick a switch somewhere? The engineer said while we had fibre, the line was not logged as fibre. He said he fixed that but...er....
Oh dear.

Re: Major fibre broadband installation fail - plusnet

What does https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed say for your current line speed? I bet it still has your old ADSL profile set. If it does it's Plusnet that need to push the right button.

Re: Major fibre broadband installation fail - plusnet

Thanks - that's a gem!  Here's the result (I left out the phone number):
Phone exchange:
REIGATE
Estimated line speed:
69Mb (Download speed could vary depending on line conditions. Estimates are the maximum speeds that your phone line can support. These speeds are dependent on the package you choose.) - Checked on 2015-06-23 13:46:31
Current line speed:
1.7 Mb
That date's 23 June, about the time I applied for Fibre.  As you'll know from above I was recently limping on 0.7MBs, and now I have leaped to an epic 1.7MBs!  In other words, it is going very slightly faster due to the Fibre installation but there is no Fibre service being supplied to me by whoever is supposed to supply it. I think.  Huh

Contact Customer Services on Live Chat (9am to 9pm) or by phone on 0800 432 0200 (7:30am to 10pm). They should be able to fix this for you.

Re: Major fibre broadband installation fail - plusnet

Thank you. I would do, but this fibre installation and its many problems are already on an open support ticket. So I'll let that act for me for now!

Re: Major fibre broadband installation fail - plusnet

Try doing a disconnect/connect - it may prompt the systems to update automatically. If you get to a stage where the current line speed is correct but your actual speeds are still slow, do another disconnect/connect and that will sort it out.

Re: Major fibre broadband installation fail - plusnet

I tried that already and it made no difference. But, I'll try it again.  I'll also run the full diagnostic with direct connection, etc., now that I have the morning to do it.
But I get the impression the fibre service has smply not been 'switched on' for my account.
I'll let folks know how I get on this morning!
