Is there a 38 Mb unlimited option?

My line was supposed to get to 50 but only does 38 (barely) however I do not want the 40GB limits
Is there a custom package on offer?

Hi Interceptor121,
If you move onto the Unlimited Package, your speeds will likely remain the same.
So, if you go for the Unlimited option, you'll still get the maximum speeds your line can operate at.

Re: Is there a 38 Mb unlimited option?

Chris
I have already the unlimited 76 mbit package, but am only getting 38 mbits
I see that there is a 38 mbit package with usage of 40 GB per month and a 76 mbit unlimited
Why not a 38 mbit unlimited as for many people this is all they can get?

Re: Is there a 38 Mb unlimited option?

If you forget the speeds and look at it as either a limited (40GB/month) or unlimited package, that is what already exists. For those whose line cannot support more than 38Mbps, the different top speeds on offer make no difference. If Plusnet were to offer a capped 40Mbps product with unlimited usage (and even BT Infinity does not offer this) they would probably only charge about 50p a month less for it, so it's hardly worth it.

Re: Is there a 38 Mb unlimited option?

This is the feedback forum some am giving feedback. In reality it does not cost any money more to plusnet if you have 38 or 76 0 or 40gb as this is not storage space or similar, just commercial strategy so worth asking here

Wrong! I suggest you check the prices BTw charge ISPs.

I am fairly sure BT does offer it.
But I guess its like you said plusnet dont seem to find it commercially worth it.
To me the attraction of such a product is to ensure my line has a high snrm (to avoid interleaving and stability issues) whilst not having usage limits.

Yes, sorry, you're right, there is an unlimited Infinity 1 option at £3/month less than unlimited Infinity 2.

Am not sure the plusnet pricing makes sense. The 38 Mbits has no limits overnight. A typical family with working people will be out 7-18 use the internet for 6 hours on the allowance and potentially to torrents and other transfers 0-8 and still blast over Gb and GB
Unless BT also charges in this way the pricing is not very intelligent
You could have
£15.99 38mbits with overnight no limits as now
£17.99 38mbits no limits
£19.99 76 no limits
I am sure there are plenty of connections that do not really go over 40 mbits so like this plusnet is really charging per traffic and then with the traffic management policy effectively still slowing down the 76mbits users

Re: Is there a 38 Mb unlimited option?

Plusnet have to pay BT for the peak capacity in Gbps - not for the amount of data shifted in total.
Here's one graph from http://www.plus.net/support/service/network_performance/broadband_bandwidth_usage.shtml:

Look at how low the usage is overnight. There's oodles of spare capacity going to waste overnight so it would be stupid to not allow users on fixed allowance products to use it for free.

I thought plusnet people were more geeky but obviously not. What about weekends?

When they advertise on TV all the time and sponsor programs like Big Brother? The days of Plusnet being an ISP chosen by geeks are long gone. I think you are more likely to find them on Zen these days.
