Re: Interleaving - Why turn it off?

From what I read here https://community.plus.net/t5/Plusnet-Feedback/Interleaving-Why-turn-it-off/m-p/1577957#M82603 it was the DLM that automatically switched it back off, not Plusnet.

Re: Interleaving - Why turn it off?

I'm sure I read somewhere that the DLM's were now controlled by the ISPs.

Re: Interleaving - Why turn it off?

Are you referring to this https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2018/02/ability-reset-openreach-fttc-broadband-dlm-profiles-ar...?

If so note that this says that Plusnet can request a DLM reset. That doesn't mean they can switch interlacing off or on themselves at will.

Anyway, if the line is running fault free why would you want it permenently on?

Re: Interleaving - Why turn it off?

I assume this is ADSL we are talking about, for which it has been possible for a long time for an ISP to set a line to have interleaving on or off so that the DLM will then not change it.

I had ours set to always on ages ago, because basically it's better with it on than off. Our line gets more bandwidth and fewer uncorrected errors with interleaving on than without. I don't particularly care about the latency, which isn't particularly high anyway with it on, so why wouldn't I want it on?
