Re: IP addresses not UK - Can customers please report any problems here

This happened to me in the last few days. In the range 150.143 etc

Can anyone tell me please, will a static ip definitely fix the issue?

what if e.g I get a static ip in a  range that is geo-locked? Will plusnet reallocate me a new static ip until I get one that isn’t geolocked.  I’m [-Censored-]ed if I’m missing this weekends motogp

When I asked  the question, a couple of years ago, Plusnet told me that the statically allocated IP addresses would definitely be listed as UK in all geo location databases.

I paid for a static IP and the problem was resolved instantly.

This has indeed fixed the problem immediately after a reboot. Worth a fiver.

Don't think the problem is as bad as it was. I returned to Plusnet 6 months ago and so far I've had no problem with the IP being ID'd as not UK.

I think it varies for different people.... Plusnet own many IP address pools, some are well defined as being in UK (includes the ones they use for Static IPs), others may be 'less well defined' (by which I mean that whilst most geo-databases are likely to have been updated, some - typically free - ones won't. Plus, if the actual web server's copy of the Geo-database hasn't been updated, you're equally stuffed).

So, sounds kike YOUR pool is good, but others may not be so lucky. It seems that the only guaranteed way to have a "UK based IP" is to get a static IP.
