A Market1 user here, currently paying just under £50 for a 4Mb connection before any price rises, and that is including a £4/month discount for being with PN for a long time. But this is a silly price now compared to the competition. What options do I have?

I'd look at SSE https://www.sse.co.uk/phone-and-broadband
Stick your number in and see if then can provide you. £21.49 a month

I would not recommend SEE , they have massive capacity issues (use daisy) , at peak time , over subscribed for the capacity available.
@godsell4 Maybe worth taking a look at Origin broadband outside their network , they partner with PN and Vodafone.
Free ADSL for a year , or 40/10 equivalent to £ 10 a month, over 18 month contract
https://www.originbroadband.com/superfast-broadband
BT are also doing fiber (55/10) at £10 a month (£100 reward card £40 next voucher) depending on the link you use.

With both you need line rental of course
Kind regards
Mike

On a market 1 exchange with no fibre and top speeds of 4Mbp/s I doubt it would event be noticed.
I agree though, the Free Origin ADSL just £16.40 Line rental is a good deal.

Hah! I *am* on a Fibre connection and get 4Mb. If I was on ADSL I would get less than 2Mb. Sorry I should have mentioned that.

Have you considered satellite broadband?
The setup cost is quite high, but...

Thanks Yes, I have considered many things, but I work from home a few hours per week and at 4Mb and <50ms latency, you can do web conferencing, satellite will be very poor for working from home for me.

Question for HarryB - Please can you confirm what date the price rises were announced. I signed up on 2nd May and I do not recall seeing anything about them.
I have land line with evening & weekends and Unlimited Fibre Extra.
Please can you confirm that with this sign up date and these two services if I am able to give notice to leave without termination fees. I have been extremely unhappy with the service provided by some plusnet staff and also the actual network as well. Has been a shambles from the start.

Just read this is on the Offcom site, surely this must apply to most PN customers due to the impending Sept 1st price increases?
22 January 2014
From tomorrow, consumers and small businesses taking out new landline, broadband or mobile contracts should be allowed to exit them without penalty if their provider increases the monthly subscription price agreed at the point of sale.

I have received the dreaded email this morning re the price increases. Can any of you knowledgeable people on this Forum advise me regarding the sentence in the email " All we ask is that you call us to tell us within 30 days of getting this email and give us 14 days’ notice"
Does that mean once I contact them I must leave within 14 days as ISP's don't start the process of switching until after the 14 day cooling off period.

Hi,
I got the email regarding the price and speed change on the 30th June kick starting the 30 days that I have to let Plus Net know I'm leaving without any termination fees.
I signed up with a new provider over the weekend but they say it can take around 20 days to complete the transfer. I'm not sure at what point in the process they'll tell Plus Net. Should I let Plus Net know I've initiated a transfer or am I okay to leave it with the two ISP's?
The email itself reads
All we ask is that you call us to tell us within 30 days of getting this email and give us 14 days’ notice.
So does this mean I should call? What does it mean when it says give us 14 days notice?
Thanks
