Re: Horrendous experience attempting to change over to Plunet fibreoptic

Should I expect the profile to increase from 2000 over the next week?

Yes, as Barry mentioned there should be no reason why this won't improve over the next 10 days.

Re: Horrendous experience attempting to change over to Plunet fibreoptic

It has'nt improved. Very disappointing at 1.5mb/s, half of what I was getting with my previous supplier. Shall I wait longer or would raising a ticket do any good?

Re: Horrendous experience attempting to change over to Plunet fibreoptic

Your previous supplier was LLU and you could there get actual speeds approaching your sync speeds.
You are never going to get similar speeds while you are provisioned over an ADS1/ADSL2/ADSL2+ line which is subject to BT's crazy DLM system.

Re: Horrendous experience attempting to change over to Plunet fibreoptic

I ran another BT speedcheck and it tells me the maximum achievable speed on this line is 2000kbps. How can this be so when I was promised a speed of 13mbps and had an estimated speed of 6mbps from Plusnet? Is this 'Maximum Achievable Speed' something that can be reset? According to Plusnet help I'm on ADSL2.
I see also that my Plusnet Estimated Line Speed is still 1.5mbps - I thought this was supposed to increase after 10 days?

According to Plusnet help I'm on ADSL2.

You are, your router stats comfirm that

DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
.
There's something not quite right here though, with your downstream attenuation of 45db you should be expecting a synch speed of about 7200 on ADSL2+ and 5888 on ADSL1 according to kitz http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php. Not quite sure how that fits with the original estimates ? maybe those were on postcode and not phone number ?
However your attenuation figures are a little strange, normally the downstream/upstream ratio is around 2:1( or sometimes a little more ), yours is way off that indicating that something is not quite right.

Just to let you know I've picked this issue up again. I'm looking into this now and will be in touch with you later today.
Sorry to hear this is still an issue by the way.

Re: Horrendous experience attempting to change over to Plunet fibreoptic

Thanks for confirming. I've now logged a fault with our suppliers. As mentioned this will likely lead to a request for an engineer visit so I'll be in touch to arrange that whent he time comes.

Re: Horrendous experience attempting to change over to Plunet fibreoptic

Hi plusnetonprobation,
I will pick up on this issue during Adam's absence.  I've tested the line today to find that there is in fact a banded profile on your line.  This will restrict the maximum synchronisation rate that your line can achieve.  I have sent a request to have this removed which will take place before the end of the day.  I will need to retest the line with the banded profile removed before I we can make a decision on the next course of action as the banded profile is not allowing us to see the full potential of the line.  I will provide further updates before the end of the day.
