Here we go again

Logging into www.findmypast.co.uk , as I have many times, it now tells me that 'It looks as if you are in the USA  We recommend that. . .'
It's not a prob in this instance, although I guess it could be on other sites I visit.
My IP address is now in the 146 sequence.

Re: Here we go again

There's a sticky thread at the top of this forum section specifically for these problems...

Re: Here we go again

Thanks. Yep, you'll see that I posted there before but there doesn't appear to be an explanation, or at least not one my addled brain can understand, and it now seems to have morphed into something slightly different.
I will be much more concerned if it impacts any of my more financial accounts.
Would it affect my fibre speed if I reboot the 582 router (again)?
But there must surely be a better solution.

Re: Here we go again

You can happily reboot the router as often as you like without affecting the fibre speed; just hands off the modem.  Depending on layout of your equipment, disconnect and reconnect the router from the web interface may be easier/quicker than rebooting.

ArthurDent,
rather than having to keep restarting router, and maybe getting a bad gateway. Purchase a static IP for a one time fee  Wink Problem solved and you will be located in the UK  Grin
