Exchange checker: separate status for 20CN and 21CN?

This post led me to question what the exchange checker is showing:
Quote from: dave
Exchange looks OK (we have a 20CN list, waiting on the 21CN one), line looks fine, network looks fine and PCL-AG01 looks fine. Try a disconnect/reconnect.

Please can you confirm that if either 20CN or 21CN is not green the checker shows a non-green status.

I heard a little bird tell me the other day that the exchange checker on usergroup only has 20cn in...    I'll confirm next week.

Re: Exchange checker: separate status for 20CN and 21CN?

That's what I feared.
Given that the majority of Plusnet users are on 21CN not 20CN it renders that tool pretty useless. Sad Until that is confirmed we should stop telling people to look on there if they are seeing slowdowns!

Possibly confirmed by https://www.btwholesale.com/pages/static/Library/Network_Information/21CN_Broadband_Availibility/ind... (https://www.btwholesale.com/shared/document/Library/Network_Information/21CN_Broadband_Availibility/Sites_With_Capacity_Issues_110313.pdf)
Both exchanges there show as green on the VP checker.

That confirms it. The document you've linked shows Ilford Central as having issues. But http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/?exchange=Ilford%20Central&exact=524&plugin=vp shows it as green.

Re: Exchange checker: separate status for 20CN and 21CN?

I did comment here about the checker http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,112956.0.html the other day.
So that is not the only "feature that is not up to date"   Angry
BTW be careful when you look at the BT document, the Title before you click the Download link is "Latest Sites with Capacity Issues", so that doesn't mean it's the only ones.  It implies you presumably have to look at all the previous issues to get a more complete picture, and I don't believe for one moment that those are the only two 21CN exchanges with capacity issues  Roll_eyes
Edit: And IIRC BT only report the VP status as NOT Green when it starts to get majorly over capacity, in other words, if it's only a few peak time slow downs they don't say anything  Huh

Re: Exchange checker: separate status for 20CN and 21CN?

The lack of more exchanges on that list could also mean 'capacity' refers to the ability for that exchange to take new connections/orders.

Confirmed.
Not sure how we are going to get it updated.  It's a user app, rather than a PN one!  Need a volunteer (or I need to get my hands dirty!)

Re: Exchange checker: separate status for 20CN and 21CN?

I'll add a qualifier that the current VP status is for 20CN. Covering 21CN requires more extensive work.

For 20CN, How accurate and up-to-date is it? That's two questions  Wink

Re: Exchange checker: separate status for 20CN and 21CN?

Something else that needs changing:
http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/bbfaults/adsl-speed-troubleshooting.shtml - Download speed is too low pop-up
Quote
Is there a problem at your telephone exchange?
Problems at your telephone exchange can affect your broadband speeds. Put your number in the Usertools Exchange Checker to find the current status of your exchange. If the VP (Virtual Paths) status is 'Red' then you might see slower speeds, particularly at peak times. If this is the case, BT will already be aware of the problem and they'll be planning to expand the exchange capacity to fix the problem.

I wouldn't suggest it needs changing!
I'd suggest the Exchange Checker needs sorting asap  Roll_eyes

Better still - have the whole thing brought under the Plusnet umbrella - updated and controlled directly by them

The 20CN VP status qualifiers are now in place.
