When I started this post I thought it would result in a response from PlusNet either saying it was nothing to do with them or at least explaining why they were ignoring the no contact request and the do not pass my details to others. I know the market research is different to marketing but it is a thin line and PlusNet seem to have crossed it.

There is no denial, no advice about how to deal with the scammers, so I stand firmly believing that it is Pnet, the fact that they do not seem to know what they are doing just adds weight as far as I am concerned.

I registered my interest in plusnet mobile but got a matching retention offer from 3, so didn't bother going with them. I assume it's relating to that.
Calls at 8 at night is kind of taking the Mick!

Try contacting them with online chat and tell them what you really think.
They are obviously REFUSING to talk to anyone about this or they would post on here.
Just don't care what they put their customers through.

At last Pnet admit that they are making these marketing calls which ask for customers to give security details. We are warned against such and Pnet authorise their staff to do it. You could not make it up.

Got home yesterday to find a call I had missed from 01143073836 so did an online search and discovered this post. During an online chat with Plusnet customer support they were unable to confirm the number as being PN. I then sent a link to this post and got the reply "what do you want me to do" But there was no confirmation this was a PN call.
So this morning the number calls again and I ask a few questions. I get "We are calling on behalf of PN"can we ask you a few questions" So I say NO thank you goodby.
By the way Plusnet - everything is fine - but please don't pass my number on to other people. Thanks.

Hmmm, had a similar thing happen to me, but isn't that a Sheffield number?

If you do not want marketing calls, I suggest you update your Account Details - Communication Settings (login required) to advise Plusnet of this.

They confirm here https://community.plus.net/t5/Plusnet-Feedback/Cold-Call-from-Plusnet-Genuine/m-p/1414259#M76044 that it is Pnet and only answer two posts below is to switch off marketing preferences. But if you have done that then tell them you are going to Data protection.
