Re: BT Appointment not cancelled, no engineer showed up, no response from PN

Right. Got a router from a friend hooked up to the master socket - aaaaand... the DSL led is not solid as it should be if broadband were actually activated. You told me it was?
Oh great! Another few days without something I've already paid for - will it turn into another few weeks, I wonder...

Looking at the ISP in his speed test, I'd guess he's just here to stir.

...bringing things back on topic, userfriendly I'm really sorry to hear that you haven't received your router. I'm surprised as we do have a dispatch confirmation. I'm about to send another can you send me a PM to confirm your delivery address please?
Adam.

Re: BT Appointment not cancelled, no engineer showed up, no response from PN

Sorry, Adam. Did not see your message yesterday when replying with my off topic remark there.
And no, still no router as of yesterday evening. A private message should be in your inbox as requested.
I'm also going to try and see tonight if broadband is activated for my line - last time that I checked with a router of a friend this was not the case.
Thank you for looking into this again, Adam. Frankly, I'm a bit miffed that after that waiting game with BT for two and a half months, payment for the service has been taken earlier this month by Plusnet, and yet here I am, nearly at the end of the month without any visible sign of me actually getting to use the service.

Please let me know when you receive the router (which has now been dispatched) and I'll make sure you are credited for this problem.

Re: BT Appointment not cancelled, no engineer showed up, no response from PN

It was dispatched yesterday? Funny how fast that went, it arrived here today. What's also funny is that it did not come alone - it brought the first router you dispatched on the 8th along with it. Now I have two routers! God bless the Royal Mail.
Broadband seems to be fine, going by a few first tentative tests... which, after precisely 3 months since I've ordered it, is quite the relief.
Download speed seems to be around 6.5 mbit/s, which for my location is okay I guess - the upload speed sucks big time, though, it's around 350 kbit/s. Note - these are speed test results, not actual down- or uploads, I just got online with this setup a few minutes ago.

Re: BT Appointment not cancelled, no engineer showed up, no response from PN

350kbps is about the standard upload speed if you are on ADSL1.
If you are on a 21CN exchange you can ask for your upload speed to be uncapped which may come at the sacrifice of a little of your download speed - you'd probably get approaching 1mbps.
If your exchange is still 20CN you can upgrade to Max Premium, details available from this page: http://trials.plus.net.

Re: BT Appointment not cancelled, no engineer showed up, no response from PN

Oh okay. The German Telekom gave me 6 mbit/s down & 600 kbit/s up before I moved to Scotland, so I kind of assumed it would be the same speeds here. Oh well.
But yeah, I'll happily sacrifice 1 mbit/s of the 6 mbit/s of download speed for getting 1 mbit/s upload speed.
Adam, can you tell me where and how I'll have to apply for that? I believe my exchange is 21CN, at least I seem to remember that's what the Plusnet exchange status page said.

Hi userfriendly.
Thanks firstly for letting me know about the router, I'll send you a postage-paid returns bag for the second one.

With regards to the speed of your connection, you are already on 21CN, could you please try running a speed tests on the following link then reply to this post:

Re: BT Appointment not cancelled, no engineer showed up, no response from PN

You could always just leave the 2nd router with me, I could use it as a wireless bridge for upstairs.  Grin

So...  Smiley ...what do I have to do to have my upload speed uncapped as jelv suggested?
