Awesome service but i think i'm paying too much?

Hello!
I've been with plusnet for a long time now, and i got an unlimited package with you guys when that was available. for a long time, the unlimited package went away and nobody could buy it anymore. I was initially concerned about this because i thought we would lose our unlimited but we was assured we wouldn't, however my price got bumped up to £25 per month for my internet. I didn't mind paying this as i get an excellent service from plusnet and have had nothing but problems with other ISP's. However, recently we noticed (and our referrals switched to) a new unlimited package which is only £9.99! How long have i been paying £15 more per month than i have to? Why hasn't my price gone down too? Am i getting a different service?
If i need to do something to initiate the change over then i would like to do that asap as i see no reason to be paying £15 more a month than i have to. I also only get 6mb/s connection, whereas the £9.99 one gives 16mb/s!
We have recently had 21cn activated in my little town of withernsea, i am not sure if this means ADSL2 is available (i don't even know if they are the same thing) but if it does, i would really like to upgrade to that kind of connection if possible, because as i mentioned i am still getting 6mb/s speeds.
Thank you!
- Steve

Re: Awesome service but i think i'm paying too much?

Hi Steve
I can partly help. Here's info of 21cn here: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchanges/21cn_overview & Exchange info here http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/MYWIT
That does in fact mean up to 16 Mbps (advertised, but could reach 24Mbps)

The older Unlimited service is different to the new one, the traffic management has changed, the pricing is different as is the contract. You're welcome to switch to the new service and can do so via our website, as you're not in a low-cost area unfortunately that would mean your price would actually be £16.99 per month.
If your exchange is ADSL2+ enabled we can move you over to that too, I'll get one of the team to place that order now for you and it should complete in 7 days.

Re: Awesome service but i think i'm paying too much?

To answer the first question the new products were launched on the 19th Dec and the £9.99 price refers to Market 2 and 3 exchanges with a 12 month contract . http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,110092.0.html
If your exchange is Market 1 then it is £16.99 per month with a 12 month contract or £19.49 no contract
This gives a very good summary http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/5630-plusnet-in-push-to-join-the-six-providers.html

Re: Awesome service but i think i'm paying too much?

I'm sure that if you 'phoned customer retentions, in spite of being on a Mkt 1 exchange, they could improve on the £16.99 too! You just need to mention there are LLU providers at your exchange.
My exchange is Mkt 1 with two LLU options there too. When I migrated from Madasafish (now PN)last August, after being a customer for a number of years, I was able to get a pretty good deal after reminding the rep. of the two LLU options and that I was inclined to move to one of them. I am on "Extra"(60Gb allowance/month) which is more than adequate for my needs.
I am paying a bit more than the LLU providers BUT well worth it for the excellent U.K. based CS! Smiley

Re: Awesome service but i think i'm paying too much?

Thanks for the replies guys, i can confirm that one of the people i was talking about in my town are paying £16.99, however my fiance's mother who is on the same package only pays £8.33 per month for the exact same service! (She is one of my referrals if one of the staff would like to check my claim is true).
What are the differences between the traffic management? Would i lose a lot of service quality for changing?
Thank you for the order to ADSL2, nothing has changed on my line yet, is there an estimated day when it will be switched over?

Re: Awesome service but i think i'm paying too much?

Hi Steve,
It would be worthwhile you changing over to our new unlimited product as it would save you money and the traffic management is also better on our new product. You can see our new <a href="http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/traffic_management.shtml">traffic management</a>
You can compare the difference between the two <a href="http://usergroup.plus.net/prodcomp1.php">here</a> choose 'Legacy: Plusnet Unlimited (L) for your current product.
If you decide to, you can change package via our <a href="http://portal.plus.net">website</a>.
You are scheduled to move over to ADSL2 tomorrow when you will see the increase in speeds.

Re: Awesome service but i think i'm paying too much?

Thank you for the response, i will definitely change over, is there any way i can pay the same as my referral mentioned earlier? seems strange that they pay half the price for the same product, what would you recommend? (I pay £18 more per month, and get a lesser service at the moment, while living in the same town, 1 street away from each other)

I assume your referral has taken advantage of a promotional offer for new customers. Giving the Customer Options Team a call on 0800 432 0200 (Mon-Fri 09:00-17:30 except Bank Holidays) might be worthwhile for yourself.
