Just wanted to add some closure for this, and also thank Mand for the fantastic service she has provided.
I'm pleased to report that I now have a residential telephone subscription with Plusnet and also a Business Option 3 broadband subscription - offering me exactly the service level I require, at a price I'm happy with - which means that rather than looking around for a new provider this month, I can instead put my feet up and enjoy using my connection as I want to.
Thanks Mand, you're a star!!!

Sorry to reopen this topic.
I'm in a similar position and my household are going over the 60Gb limit well before the month has ended. Am considering Business Broadband option 3, but am worried about evening speed restrictions. As the reported usage categories arent the same as the categories in the package comparison charts I'm not sure what might slow down. My main usage is reported as browsing, streaming and 17% other.
Can someone help me align what is Other in the usage summary, would that be my VPN when I'm working from home?
Is another option to get a 2nd BT line and add a new plusnet adsl account to that and hence get 120Gb usage allowance?
Ideas welcomed.

If you add a second Plusnet account, don't forget to claim for the referral

Good call Chris Perhaps I'd get the referral bonus for both accounts
Anyone got any ideas on how i compare usage categories with the speed restriction categories?

Hi JOC,
Hopefully I can clear some of this up:
'Other' is simply any traffic that hasn't yet been classified. I believe VPN traffic has its own classification so unless it's a new VPN protocol that we haven't put into the traffic management platform yet all your VPN traffic should go through as such.
That would certainly work, though it depends on how much extra usage you're getting through as to whether it's worth it or not. Don't think in any way that we'd complain if you did want a second account though

Thanks Matt.
in the useage report, VPN doesnt seem to be defined, it shows:
Web 47%
Email 0%
Broadband phonecalls 3%
Gaming 2%
Streaming 19%y
PlusNet FTP 0%
Peer-to-peer 2%
Usenet 1%
FTP (non PlusNet) 0%
Other 19%
Not sure where VPN would sit?

This is just a guess but I think VPN might be counted under Other is the VMBU usage breakdown. However in that case I think the Other category in Expected Speeds is different since VPN has its own category in the latter list.
Looking at the other numbers I think that would probably mean most of VMBU Other is likely to be VPN.

Hi JOC,
spraxyt is correct in that VPN traffic is shown under 'other' in the usage breakdown. We're aware that there isn't a specific category for VPN on the usage page, it was added as a specific category after that page was created though I'll see if I can get it raised again if you like?

It would be useful on the usage breakdown summary.
