If you could follow the guide that jelv has pointed out and post your findings here that will be very helpful.
Also, the speeds you stated were they from a wireless connection or via an Ethernet connection?

To be honest it was better this morning. I know the first 72 hours can be a bit creaky and it can take up 10 days to stabilise. I probably gave it a bit of a heart attack anyway when I connected everything up and found around 10 gigs of total updates across my devices which all started downloading on boot up..
Obviously I shut all those down before a speed-test but I may have missed something. I will do a more careful test with most devices offline later today when I get back from the office but I wont fret just yet.
Everything I have is wireless by the way Linn.. one socket in the whole cottage nowhere near anywhere useful and i may well have to move the cable anyway as it passes into the house and right along the side of the fusebox and all the mains electricity cables running into and off around the house (I am pretty sure that wont be helpful!) (Still renovating the place don't you know! ;D)
Adam got back to me first thing this morning as promised and has sorted the odds and sods out. As far as I am concerned I am happy with the resolution of the issues up til now, the speed issue is something i will monitor until Monday and if it persists I will follow it up with more detailed info - may redirect the cable leading to the master socket first! ::). I do not expect super fast speeds by any means. My exchange is listed as capable of up to 8 but our distance would cap us around 2 anyway. (1.9 was the figure quoted by PN when we initially started the order as well).
It is a massive drop from my last property but I knew the lifestyle change would also affect these kind of services before I moved!
Thanks to you guys though. And Adam. It's made it easier being able to post here and get decent updates etc and the odd bit of sympathy

It's also worth mentioning that if you're solely using a wireless connection then your speeds will more than likely be lower than the estimated speeds provided during sign up. The estimated speeds are based on your line length from your property to the telephone pole, to the cabinet, and then to the exchange. You'll find that the speeds will be faster if you connect your device via an Ethernet cable.
If you're not able to move the socket then I'd suggest maybe buying some home plugs so that you can connect your computer/laptop via Ethernet somewhere else in the property that may be more suitable
I'm glad to hear that you've now spoken to Adam and that you were able to reach a resolution.
Hopefully we'll get to speak to you on the Forums some more in the future. Let's hope that it's not due to any issues next time

As I renovate the place I will almost certainly install cabling around the property to used wired as much as possible. I think I have about 480 metres of cat5e in the barn anyway and a dell hub or two kicking about.
Obviously that wont happen overnight (though the update downloads will! Set everything to happen when I sleep!)
Going to need to fiddle with a few settings or ports to give my xbox an easier time though!
Well we should probably let this thread drop to the bottom of the pile now! If I have a tech problem later It can be dealt with separately.

I will be fitting more and swapping them out for doubles etc as I go room to room renovating. At that point the plug extensions may just be an easier solution for any rooms that do not need re-plastering (fully renovated rooms will be fitted with conduit, faceplates and cables under the new wall surface).
Like I said. Speeds are still sluggish but seem to be improving. There is no point really pestering Plusnet about it at this minute as I need to sort the problems out in the house first that may be causing much of the problem.
The weekend will be a good time to do that and then I will test just the one computer connected by cable to the router and shut wireless off so nothing else interferes. If it hasn't improved Ill then get all the info they need together and post it. I may in fact wait a little longer just to make sure the lines stable and everything is updated and running at its best.
I have a usable service at this point which was what I wanted. The speed and other minor bits can be dealt with as I get around to checking everything.

Clearly that's showing my line bandwidth as far lower than promised and far lower than my neighbour's had prior to the work being carried out on my connection. (Theirs has since dropped to the same speed as mine and they are getting intermittent dropouts of BB adsl signal on their line)

Ok I was told when I signed up i would get 1.9/2 on my line (market 1 exchange rated at 8+ but fair distance) My neighbour's get between 2 & 2.5... one of them is the semi-detached next door..

Jelv, I have installed one pair of the plug TP-Link ethernet adapters and shut off the wireless. Speeds are exactly the same. Wireless signal was at full bars anyway although I see the sense in using wired, it seems when speeds are this slow its going to be just as slow either way.
Still have engaged tone on phone instead of dialling tone by the way. Linn I will reply to that on the ticket but there is nothing in that list you provided that I haven't tried or checked previously with no improvement at all. You may as well look at the other info in this post though while I get around to answering the ticket.

Given that speeds up to 2mbps "may" be possible.
BUT what is currently killing you is the SNRM of 18. The phone problems may be related to or causing that.
That "should" change to a lower figure if your line is stable, with a corresponding speed increase.
My line is shorter and runs at 3dB, but yours is unlikely to get that low though 6 or 9dB would be typical.
Monitor the stats and see how they change over the next few days.
Edit: Speeds of 288/576 suggest a fixed speed product not ADSL2+ - I suggest you ask PN to check how your line is configured.....

Thanks for pointing out the info about the 288/576 speeds, wasn't aware of that.
I have been monitoring this since Thursday of last week. I only delayed posting until now as the line had only been up a couple of days at most at that time and was purely using wireless to connect devices. Now that has changed I figure it was time to post. These results are pretty standard over the last 5 or so days.

That, in itself, may not be a huge problem as ADSL1 goes up to 8mbps and your line will probably not carry any of the higher ADSL2+ frequencies, but just another factor to be checked out.
The 288/576 line speed needs checking ASAP though - raise a ticket if no-one picks up on it!

However if your line length is realistic then 2mbps, or just below, would be a sensible expectation once everything is eventually fixed.
