“I’m Checking In” foursquare FourSquare is a mobile application that is getting a lot of buzz at the moment. The basic premise of the service is to use the application to ‘check in’ when you are at restaurants / pubs / shops etc and share this information with your friends Facebook / Twitter. The application is clever as it looks up where you are using the technology in your Smartphone (GPS / Wi-Fi triangulation) and will give you a list of nearby locations to choose from. Once you have ‘checked in’ to a location you can see who else has visited there recently and be pushed location specific offers. There is a strong gaming component to this application with badges awarded to users for completing tasks and letting users compete to be the ‘Mayor’ of a specific location through the number of ‘Check Ins’ a user has completed. You can use this application if you have an iPhone / Android / Blackberry / Palm Smartphone with support for more mobile operating systems expected in the future.
