Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

My problem is I'm having a very specific problem and people are just giving totally unrelated comments all I can do is repeat everything worked fine until Fri PM, nothing to my knowledge updated as I have all that turned off on this PC, the message tells me to reset the plusnet box but that does nothing, I have 6 laptops here all working fine on both windows and Linux no connection issues at all its just this one pc that will not connect to the internet although it connects to the wifi

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

As I keep saying it connects to the WiFi no problem its just this one PC that won't connect to the internet and the screen in the browser tells me to reset the plusnet box which does nothing for the problem

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

yes I've never seen before but as soon as I open my browser its the message I get, the whole thing is very strange I'm not stupid, I'm pretty PC savvy and usually sort these things out my self but this fails on both Windows and Linux (totally different partitions) 6 other laptops are working fine its just this and one other which refuse to connect to the internet I know they are connecting to the WiFi as my door camera shows on them its just the internet thats giving this message and on any browser I use (I have 4 on my linux partition)

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

You say the laptop is connecting to the local network and you can see other devices.

The problem is connecting to the outside world. DHCP seems to be doing it's job but check device network settings, see if the default gateway has been manuall overidden. Bypass the browser and try connecting diirect.

 cmd -  ping bbc.co.uk

You should see a similar message to :

C:\Users\xyzzy>ping bbc.co.uk

Pinging bbc.co.uk [151.101.64.81] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 151.101.64.81: bytes=32 time=9ms TTL=58

You need to find where it's failing.

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

I understand this, but why would it change on 2 separate systems on the same pc? this pc worked fine 100% until fri PM when it just stopped connecting to the internet In my limited view it should be something very simple Nothing has been changed on anything here so it shouldn't have altered anything

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

As @Baldrick1  explained things do change. At the momemt one of my PC is doing an update, what it's updating I don't know, does / did the update work, I don't know but I will the next time I switch on which could be an hour or days away..........

Just going through a process of elimination did you try the ping test and check the network settings hadn't been changed ?

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

@Anonymous Ok , you have some settings in the Hub 2 Access control that are set to block that device.

Check your settings in the Advanced settings->Access control , see Help here https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/router-user-guides/hub-two/

Re: my wifi is rejecting certain PC's

I'm not sure it helps but I've just used a usb wifi and everything is working again I must now investigate why the plusnet is rejecting the PC wifi but accepting this one

@Anonymous that's simple! the usb wifi device will have a different MAC address to the built in wifi, so it will appear to the Hub 2 as a different device.

As I said above , go and check what settings you have in the Access controls on the Hub 2.
