iPhone constantly dropping

Our iphones keep getting kicked from our wifi.

Its the same issue as described in this post, but we have the 2704n router rather than the newest one, so the instructions dont work as our router doesnt have the settings described.

Does anyone know how to split the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks on the 2704n router?

Thanks all

Re: iPhone constantly dropping

The 2704n router only has a 2.4 GHz band so this is not your problem.

Having said that the wireless performance of these routers is pretty dire. If you must use one then you need to make sure that you use the best wireless setup. This might help:

Failing that either take out a new contract with Plusnet and ask for a Hub One or spend £20-30 on Ebay for a Smarthub 6, which has far better wireless performance. Either needs the wireless channels splitting for the best performance on Apple devices.

Re: iPhone constantly dropping

Hi @meersbrook67, as @Baldrick1 has advised the router you have only has 2.4GHz wireless.

I'd first try changing the wireless channel following the steps below:

1) Open a browser and go to

If you have any issues doing this via Wireless, we recommend trying to do it via Ethernet cable instead.

2) Once you are connected, you will see the option that says 'Wi-Fi Network' with the name of your network followed by the 'Settings' button.

3) Please select 'Settings' and you will be asked to log in with the 'Router Password'. This password is found on the bottom of the router and is case sensitive. This password can also be found on the plastic card that came with the router.

4) The Channel is the key option that we need to look for, If this is on Auto then we will want to change this to one of the 13 channels listed on the drop down menu. This stage is all down to trial and error to find the best channel for you.

Let us know how this goes.
