Very much doubt it, they will have bought enough stock of their current door stop to not make it worth it for the bean counters

I imagine the Hub One will continue to be provided to customers for the foreseeable future. They only changed to the Hub One because of Open Reach moving to customer self install. Hub One was their quickest option to meet the deadline and will more than likely help BT get rid of surplus Home Hub 5A orders. BT are also claiming the Smart Hub provides the fastest most reliable wifi among broadband providers, which is a claim it will only be able to make if Smart Hub is exclusive to BT.

and you still probably can't change DNS or switch on ICMP response..
