Wifi constantly dropping out

For the past few months I've had issues with my wifi signal. I've been told there's no problem on the line and I've changed to 5Ghz and changed channels several times etc

None of this works and it's just getting worse. I need to be able to use Zoom for work and it constantly kicks me out because I have no wifi. This happens even when I'm in the same room as the router and there's no one else in the house and I turn off wifi on my phone.

I've never had such poor signal before and am seriously thinking of cancelling my contract as its so bad. I need to get this sorted asap - any advice gratefully accepted. Although reading back other posts, I really don't want to have to buy and set up a BT hub. Can't Plusnet actually sort out their shocking service Huh

Re: Wifi constantly dropping out

You could try splitting the 2.4 and 5GHz wifi bands

Navigate in a web browser to 192.168.1.254.

Click Advanced Settings

Enter your Hub admin password when prompted (unless you've changed it, you'll find the default password on the settings card)
Continue to Advanced Settings.
Click on Wireless.
Click 5GHz tab.
Change 'Sync with 2.4Ghz' to No.
Change the name of the 'Wireless SSID' - I added a '_5' on the end.
Save the changes.

You can then select which one you want per device.

Re: Wifi constantly dropping out

@mort7890 the ‘techy’ reference was in reply to another post on here (which seems to have gone now) not your post directing me to another thread. I replied ‘thank you’ to that and that I’ll take a look.
I’ll be trying the advice on that thread tomorrow when I get chance to do so

Re: Wifi constantly dropping out

I’ve followed the instructions on the post @mort7890 directed me to. Turned off the 5ghz.
Don’t have any zoom meetings until next week now, so will see if this change improves things then 🤞

Re: Wifi constantly dropping out

Hi @rachflet  Have you checked what software you have on the router as this maybe the problem and you may need to request the update again all details are where I pointed you to look.

Re: Wifi constantly dropping out

Hi @rachflet may I suggest you go to the other discussion group Hub One - 5GHz WiFi issue then find page 97 as I think someone there had the same problem. They gave all the details to Bob Pullen (use the @) you will have to read the problems to check and then submit your request. Hope this is helpfull
