Wifi connection issues. Firmware update?

I'm having problems with some mobile devices connecting to our wi-fi. I either get 'Authentication error' or 'Connected, No internet' errors. Resetting the router does fix the problem but it always occurs again.

This is across an Iphone X, Oneplus 6T, Pixel 1 XL and a Pixel 2.

I have noticed that others are having similar issues with 5Ghz devices. It seems that splitting the two bands with different SSID's is a workaround but I'd rather try other fixes first.

Would a firmware update help? Our hub doesn't seem to have updated since we got it last October. It's currently on version 4.7.5.1.83.8.259.

Re: Wifi connection issues. Firmware update?

Were having exactly the same problem with Android devices and often have to turn wifi off/on on each device to regain the connection.

We also have given the two wifi bands on the One Hub different SSID's but the problem recurs.

Our firmware is :- 4.7.5.1.83.8.237.2.2 which I believe is two years old.

I don't really understand why firmware is not automatically updated ?Huh

Re: Wifi connection issues. Firmware update?

To be honest I've not tried splitting the SSID's yet, I think it should work as is. My previous BT Homehub didn't have this problem and it's basically the same device.

As you mentioned I've seen that yourself and others who have spilt the SSID's still having the same issue.

I'm with you on the firmware updates though, there's so many requests for updates and no info on why it isn't happening automatically.

If they take away the ability for us to update it then the automatic system should work.

It is typically, however it takes time to deploy firmware to hundreds of thousands of routers and an element of caution/careful monitoring is required. There's a bit of a mix out there currently due to some issues we identified with some of the interim versions mid-deployment.

I've shared this info in a number of other threads. Long story short though, everybody is in the process of being upgraded to 4.7.5.1.83.8.263.

I've just pushed this version to both of your devices. They will have rebooted to apply the update.

Re: Wifi connection issues. Firmware update?

Brilliant, thanks for the speedy response.
Hopefully this will make a difference. I'll report back on how it goes.
Do you happen to know if the connection issues have been addressed in the firmware updates?

Re: Wifi connection issues. Firmware update?

There were some wi-fi connectivity issues introduced by 4.7.5.1.83.8.259, and yes, what was identified has been resolved in the latest build.

Re: Wifi connection issues. Firmware update?

I wouldn't like to be a pain but I'm also getting these WiFi issue's on my one hub.
Is it possible to get a firmware push to my device?
Currently running 4.7.5.1.83.8.259.

Re: Wifi connection issues. Firmware update?

Hi

Have been experiencing similar wifi issues for a few weeks now and actually came here to research for a replacement router. But seems that may not be necessary if my router firmware is upgraded? (I currently have Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.259....)

Any chance you can push the upgrade to my router also please?

Thanks Smiley
