What does an exclamation symbol mean on WIFI?

Hi all
Sometimes I get an exclamation symbol next to the Wi-Fi one and no webpage will open or videos will play.

I seem to be getting this quite recently. Does anyone know the cause and solution?
I end up resetting the router (Hub 1) but after a couple of hours the problem returns.
In the last hour I've had to do a factory reset and hopefully that should resolve things.
Is it an issue at my end or PN's?

Thanks.

It means although you are connected to the router, the router has lost internet access for some reason.

@Mustrum - Thanks for the link(s). And reading some of them, it's possible it could be a PN server problem. I'd like it if one of the staff could clarify.

Easy enough to check on your router, just log on and see what is going on.

Re: What does an exclamation symbol mean on WIFI?

Broadband is not going to work well if the "phone" line is not working properly.

Please perform a quiet line test - dial 17070 select option 2 using a corded phone plugged into the test socket behind the face plate of the master socket. It should be silent. A noisy phone line (or no dial tone) will have a marked adverse impact on the performance of broadband.

If the line is noisy or there is no dial tone, then a PHONE LINE fault needs to be raised with your phone provider. If this is PlusNet, you can report a fault on line using the button below.

How is your line performing?

Please post your router stats; for PN TG582n and 2704n routers use the buttons below, for other routers look at the Kitz link.

Also run a BT Wholesale speed test (ideally using an Ethernet wired PC with the WiFi turned off) then run the further diagnostics and post the results here. DO NOT REBOOT the router!

Also find your CURRENT SPEED (PlusNet line profile) from the PlusNet user portal - you will need to log in.

Re: What does an exclamation symbol mean on WIFI?

@Townman - The line is absolutely fine. And at the moment, well, for the last few hours at least, everything's been ok.

If it goes down again, I'll see if I can post the necessary stats.
