Unknown device

Tidying things up a bit and noticed a few unknown devices connected to my network. Identified all but one 

called "DESKTOP-7BS5LHE" . So I applied permanent access control to it to cut off it's internet connection (the

router doesn't seem to have an option to restrict wireless to individual devices ) and it is no longer connected

and only shows up in the Access Control Panel.

Am I correct in assuming this device is coming from out side and therefore a possible hacker !!!

@Nige90  Welcome to the forum.

You shouldn't assume anything. I suspect that this is a Windows PC. Do you have one in the house? Very often you can have two connections to a device, one wireless and another Ethernet even though only one is in use. It will not be a potential hacker, it's either a real hacker within the wireless range of your router who has cracked your wireless password and has access to your network or something in your house.

If you want to be sure then change your wireless password in the wireless advanced settings.

Already changed password.

Running an iMac and Windows laptop. 

I do have a Linux based music server that is both wireless and Lan, so possibly that. Don't ever recall setting the name as 

the device in question though.

Been there and done that! In my case it was an old Kindle that had not been used for ages.
