Thomson TG585v8 Router's Wireless & Internet lights keep flashing

My internet keeps dropping intermittently.  Has done for weeks.

Both the Wireless and Internet lights are almost constantly flashing on my router.

When I reconnect manually, it gets me back on immediately.

Tried all the usual fixes and the problem persists.

The PlusNet phone lines are very busy and the Online chat is Offline, so I haven't spoken to PlusNet yet.

Is this a general problem of greater Lockdown use, or is it likely to be something else?

Suggestions welcome.

One thing to try as a first step is to plug a corded phone in and dial 17070 select option 2. This is the quiet line test,

there should be no noise on the line.

If you hear any noise then that may be the cause of your dropouts. Book a phone fault to resolve.

If the line is quiet then there may be a line fault which will need engineer intervention.

I fear I will need to do an archaeological dig for a corded phone, so it may be some time before I can try your suggestion!

Did the line test, which proved to be a 'quiet' line, so I telephoned PlusNet - and didn't have to wait too long.

They did a test on the landline from their end and thought there was a fault.

They have booked Mr Openreach to come in a few days so, hopefully, things will improve soon.

Great, glad that you got a quick result. That old corded phone had a use after all.

I only recently purchased one because we had a series of power cuts in which our dect phones are less than useless. A greast diagnostic tool as cheap as chips!
