Technicolor Gateway TG582n Router - Firmware 10.2.5.2 upgrade.

Just recently I'm getting very frequent wifi connection drop-outs, like every 10 minutes! For 3 or 4 years I've had no problems so think perhaps the router has gone past it's sell by date and I urgently need a new one if a firmware update isn't available.

My dodgy connection to the internet is currently via Fibre Broadband and is something my wife and grandson are demanding is sorted out quickly. Can you help me please?

@barrieedge  Welcome to the forum.

Plusnet will normally only give you a new router if you agree a new contract. For fibre this will be a HubOne that does not need the BT modem. If you do not want to take out a new contract then buy a BT Smarthub 6 from EBay for £15-20. Finally are you sure it's a wireless problem that you have? What are the lights on the router doing when the connection is lost? Also have you got any wired connections to your router that are dropping?

Thanks for getting in touch. @Baldrick1's answered the question for me with regards us replacing the hardware. We no longer actually supply or support (firmware wise) the TG582 range of routers, but if you'd like one of the new Hub One routers you can speak to the customer options team on the number below who might also be able to reduce the cost you pay each month too:

Opening Times:
08:00 - 20:00 Monday to Friday
09:00 - 19:00 Saturday
09:00 - 18:00 Sundays 

 

Alternatively as Baldrick's advised you're free to supply your own equipment.
