Hi and thanks for providing the additional information.
Looking at your account it seems as though your connection has been stable for the last sixteen hours - could you confirm how things are looking from your side over the same time period?
Best wishes,
Dave

OK, just had another drop

...time passes ....

so 3.5 days , which is pretty much in line with MTBF before of 3 days. So I'd say (from one result only) that the behaviour is unchanged since putting in place this most recent in-line microfilter.
I'll wait for the six days agreed at the start, then it looks as if I'll need to try the "two box" solution shown in the above jpegs. At this point I'll lose my ability to see if the connection is dropping (the box does no logging)

...and again about 3 days later, so I'd say changing the filter made no (significant) difference

The next step will be to replace both the modem and the router and we wire the house setup .... I then lose any monitoring ability so can I ask somebody at plusnet to keep an eye (once I confirm I have the two box config in place)

OK, so I'm about to trey to go back to the original "two box solution" (see photos) I've just gone to the page: https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/router-setup-guides/ with the intention of printing it off prior to cutting my connection .... but it's not a PDF , so you need to be online to use it ... doooh! ... so I goto feedback (to point this out)
Thanks!
We'd love to hear your feedback
Thank you for your feedback

OK, back on the air with two box solution. (so I guess it was a crossover that it needed)
so now I can't see the line drops . Could somebody at PlusNet please acknowledge this message and keep and eye for the next 6 days to see if I'm still getting line drops. (12:50 on 3 jul 2018)

Hi There Sorry to hear of the issues you have had. I am glad that you have been able to find a solution. Firstly I just wanted to advise that there should be not differences in the connection settings you would of had in your router to what we currently use.
I am happy to provide a history of your connection as it stands now so that this can be referenced against and further updates.
I would ask that you give us a quick reply when you would like to check this again from our end and we can update this thread.

Woah there, this is in no sense at "a solution" ... this is a test lash up I've setup at the request of various folks on this forum. Right now I have no wired phone line and part of my network set-up is offline. I also have a collection of boxes on my hall floor and extension box to power al the kit. This is not a configuration I can live with long term.
Step 1: Was to swap out the microfilter for 6 days (2 X MTBF) to see if anything changed [ it didn't ]
Step 2: Was to swap out the single modem+router for the old 2 box solution, to see if one part of the combined box was a cause
Step2 has the side effect of losing all my stats, so I can no longer tell if I'm getting line drops. This is why I ask for somebody to monitor it.
It looks like you saw a drop at around 12:30 , which was when I swapped out the box.
We need to check on 10th July

Hi @graemev,
It looks like everything is still stable from our side at the moment, but I'd be happy to check the connection out again on 10th July to see how everything has been performing.
If you have any issues or concerns in the meantime however, please make sure to post another update within this thread.

OK, time has passed. Can somebody report on my history. I have no access to any logs so I can't tell if there have been any drops.

Ahh,
so swapping out microfilter had no effect
swapping out the TDW9980 seems to have completely solved the drop outs (sadly not a long term solution as it fills my hallway with boxes and offers no monitoring)
So the most likely cause is the TDW9980 is the cause. The only other possibility is "time" ... it was a fault which existed in the past but has stopped now. So I'll swap the TDW9980 back and see if the problem reoccurs. Assuming they do, what is the next action?

If your connection between the exchange and your router drops out I'd report a fault to us at http://faults.plus.net

If the fault reappears , it points at the router being the source of the problem. What should I then do? I'll have two "unusable" solutions the TD-W9980 (line drops) the two box techincolor router + Huawei modem (no use as I don't have room + power for the two boxes in my hall.)
...Just buying "high end" combined modem+router seems to not work on the plusnet network
(still nice to have a working phone line after all these weeks 🙂 )

OK, got another failure reported by the W9980. Did anybody see this on the other end.
Assuming you did, this pretty much clinches it for the router. So I have a a router which drops connection roughly every 3 days.
...so what to do? Is there a router known not to do this? (single box , not 2)

I'm somewhat intrigued by User request. Just in case the box is choosing to take the connection down every so often? e.g. to reset state and clear out tables? (seems a bit far fetched I know)

All the problems I can find on the Web seems to be PlusNet customers. I'm wondering if there is a clash between my modem and something in the Plusnet network. It seems either swapping the modem or the ISP would be the obvious solution?
I'm not seeing any kind of response on this thread.
