Since Hub Two, can’t connect to remote printing or smart plugs

The Hub Twois great, but since having it I can’t connect it to any smart plugs or any longer use the re,pre printing function in the Epsom app. Both were working fine with my old router.
i have tried:
- temporarily renaming the 2.5 and 5 ghz channels in the router
- temporarily turning off 5ghz and attempting to connect the plug from the 2.5ghz
- uninstalling and reinstalling the smart life app
- trying to set up the plug as new plug in smartlife
is it that the hubtwo just isn’t compatible with smart plugs or remote printing? Am I trying to do something that just isn’t possible?
Are there smart plugs that do work with the hub two? Do I just have to bin the ones I’ve got and get different ones?

@LS74g I find that setting things like printers back to factory default. and then reinstalling them, with the 5Ghz band switched off, if they are 2.4Ghz only, usually works. I assume, as I don't have any, that smart plugs can be similarly reset.
