Setuo a Draytek vigor 2830n router

Hello,

I have a Draytek vigor 2830n router that I would like to use instead of the plusnet router.

The plusnet router keeps freezing and dropping connection, so as I used to use the draytek on Sky with no problems I'm hoping the draytek will improve things.

How do I set this up ?

connections + settings for the router. I have had check but not sure how to proceed.

I seem to remember with sky I had to use their router as well as the draytek, is this the case with plusnet, or can I just setup with the draytek?

Thanks,

Im assuming you are on a fttc connection since you've posted in the fibre board.

The 2830 doesn't have a vdsl capable modem so to work on a fibre connection you will need a separate modem and connect to the wan port on the 2830

Thanks, MisterW. Am I right in thinking I use the plusnet modem and turn off the wifi - and connect the draytek to the plusnet use the wifi and ethernet from the Draytek?

Re: Setuo a Draytek vigor 2830n router

You can, but the plusnet router cannot be set to true modem only mode. You can still do what you suggest , turn off the Wii and then connect the drayton and use its Wii. It's not ideal but it will work.

You can either use the 2830 as just a wireless access point and connect one of its lan ports to the plusnet router

OR configure its wan port for dhcp, change its subnet, and then use it as a router by connecting its wan port to the plusnet router

OR

you could get a cheap HG612 bt modem from Ebay and forget about the plusnet router. Connect the hg612 to the 2830 wan port and configure the 2830 with your plusnet username and password
