Setting up router logs

I have my plusnet modem connected to my netgear router which has a log feature and allows me to send logs of internet activity to an email address.

it looks like this.

Thing is I'm not very savvy with these things and I'm wondering what an outgoing mail server is and if it's tied to my ISP or something.

I could really use some help with setting this up.

Yours kindly

Adam

Re: Setting up router logs

Is your e-mail address set up with us or a 3rd party like Gmail or Hotmail?

Re: Setting up router logs

Fix

If you want to send it to the Plusnet e-mail address the following should work.

Outgoing Mail Server: relay.plus.net

Put whichever e-mail address you want the logs to be sent to and that should do the trick.

Re: Setting up router logs

Thanks Matthew but still no joy:

outgoing mail server: relay.plus.net

send to this email address: me@hotmail.com

I've checked my inbox and junk folder. but still nothing.

Re: Setting up router logs

I've also got a Netgear router and I the ability to email a log is a useful feature, especially if there are problems on the line (e.g. frequent disconnects). It gives you a record that can be useful when reporting faults.

The only annoyance I have is that, even though my router has the right time set, all the emails from it appear (from the 'sent' date) to have been sent in 1970. I can't see any way to change this.

(This is on the latest European firmware for the Netgear WNR1000v3. Other routers may of course differ.)
