Router

My hub one router seems to have developed an issue where the blue light either doesn't show/is very dull or works ok. There are no other fault lights showing. On most occasions the WiFi still works regardless, but sometimes it drops the Internet connection completely on some devices but not all. I've seen some chat about 2.4 and 5 ghz being the problem, but Im not tech enough to know.
I 've had the same router since joining Plusnet 5 years ago. Is it just too old now?

Re: Router

@Stewart1887 It probably is getting old, but IMO should still work OK. I'm not going to give chapter and verse, but as you have noted, there is plenty of advice re splitting the 2.4 and 5.0Ghz channels - look for posts, by 'Baldrick1' especially, on the subject and follow them - it is a simple procedure.

Re: Router

Thanks for that. I'll have a look for Baldrick and hopefully get it sorted.

Re: Router

@Stewart1887

I'm here! These are the instructions that John is probably refering to: https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/2-4ghz-and-or-5ghz-best-practice/m-p/1351966#M840

However if the power light is blinking then it's likely that there's also an intermittent fault on your Hub. If you have recently renewed your contract, or about to, then if you can live with a Plusnet Hub One then ask for a new one. Whatever you do don't pay the Plusnet full price for one, they're probably about worth the P & P charge and that's it.

If you want a better budget replacement then spend about £20 on an auction site for a BT Smarthub 6. Setting instructions are here: https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Using-the-BT-Smarthub-6-on-a-Plusnet-Account/m-p/1587673#M85...

Re: Router

Thanks @Baldrick1 . I know I could have found your link, but it was early in the morning, and I had other things I was doing elsewhere when I answered.😉

Re: Router

Changed it to 2.4ghz and works perfectly. Blue light remains static with no fading. And so far no drop in connection.
You tube tends to buffer, but I'll just have to take more breaks in my exercise videos.!
Thanks so much for the quick response from all and the easy advice.

Re: Router

@Stewart1887
It might be worth you posting on the end of this thread to see if a firmware update would help the 5GHz band. I would still keep them separated though.  https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Hub-One-5GHz-WiFi-issue/m-p/1696363#M15510
