Router repeatedly losing internet connection (but all lights are on)

This problem started a few years ago when I moved to Plusnet from BT. After putting in the Plusnet router, it would keep dropping the internet and need rebooting. I tried using my old BThub4 instead and it worked perfectly for a couple of years until we had some broadband problems at xmas. The engineer fixed the line problem but couldn't get the BT router working again. I put the old Plusnet router back in and immediately the old problem started up again. Plusnet sent a new router and it does the same thing. I also tried with an old BThub3 and it also has done the same thing. I can't seem to manage to go more than a week or two without having to restart the router (yesterday it was out again within an hour).  All the lights on the router are green, but on the wifi connection it says no internet. We don't have any issues on our other (business) line (not with plusnet).

Do I just need to fork out for a decent router? or is there something else causing it (we do not have fibre broadband). Help Please!!!
