"If Plus.net will not send me a new router am I with in my rights to cancel my contract early as they are breaching the terms of the agreement?"

@Lesgable  Welcome to the fotum.

I have never read this clause in thew contract. Can you help by quoting the clause number?

As I understand it Plusnet supply a hub with a 12 month guarantee and if this fauls during a contract they willnormally replace it as a goodwill gesture. But I could be wrong.

Re: Router rebooting spontainusly

@Lesgable  Do you have a Siemens Gigaset VOIP phone.? There seems to be a problem with some VOIP ata hardware that causes the router to crash and report a watchdog error, Have a look at this thread, particularly from message #28 onwards.

https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Hub-One-Router-keeps-on-restarting-almost-every-day-for-no/t...

@bobpullen  is investigating this problem and may be able to push some test firmware to the router that may help you.

On the other hand the Hub 1 is not the greatest router and has a number of other problems particularly with wi-fi. Many Plusnet customers have abandoned the Hub 1 and use a BT Home Hub 6 instead, which is known to work well.

Re: Router rebooting spontainusly

@Lesgable - I've just pushed an update to your router that fixes the VoIP issue @RealAleMadrid has mentioned. You'll need to switch the router off/back on to apply it.

If the watchdog resets continue then let me now and I'll get a replacement shipped.

Re: Router rebooting spontainusly

I'm having this too at the minute;  Several times over the last two days, under very little load too with only myself online working from home.

Is this indicative of a faulty router?

Re: Router rebooting spontainusly

firmware version: 4.7.5.1.83.8.999

Now there's something I've never seen before! Crazy

Would suggest a factory reset by inserting something into the pinhole at the rear of the device until the status light flashes green. If that doesn't sort it, then a replacement is the way to go.

Re: Router rebooting spontainusly

That might be a red herring...?   Looking at the date stamps might be as it looked from out the factory?

The router is running "Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.263 Last updated Unknown" right now.

Would a factory reset not flatten it?  Or would it be back to as when supplied?  Or further back than that?  i.e with none of my user credentials?  Is all that's unique to my router being my "Broadband username"?

It's reloaded 5 times today now.  It's not great...

Re: Router rebooting spontainusly

A factory reset should make the router pull down the correct details (username, password, latest firmware etc) from our hardware management system.

Any custom changes you’ve made though for example to the wireless settings will be back to factory default so you’ll need to make them again after the reset.
