Router password incorrect

Hello,

I am having trouble logging in to my router settings. Each time I go to 192.168.1.254 and enter the password on the reference card and the back of my router, it has an error message saying it is incorrect.
Is there any way to change the password for the router or find out what it is?
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Router password incorrect

Two thoughts:

1) The password is case-sensitive (have to mention that!)

2) Is it possible the password has been changed (very unlikely if you haven't done it and have owned it from new.)

A factory reset of the router will reset the password to the default if necessary

Re: Router password incorrect

Thanks for the reply.
I am entering the password correctly and it has not been changed since I received it.
I have tried a factory reset, but this has not resolved the problem.
Is it worth contacting plusnet to get a new router or is there a way to find out what the password it?

Re: Router password incorrect

Can you try a different device and/or browser?

I am sometimes inexplicably unable to log in via a wireless tablet, but have never failed to using a wired PC.

(Can't comment on whether PlusNet would replace a router which was otherwise apparently functioning OK.)

Re: Router password incorrect

It is probably a long shot but there are instances when it matters whether you use the numeric keys along the top of the keyboard or the 'calculator' number keys on the right hand side. It might just be worth trying both.

Re: Router password incorrect

Depending on the font, there can be confusion between, for example an upper case 'B' and a figure '8'. Or an upper case 'S' and a figure '5'.

Re: Router password incorrect

Fix

If you have a Hub Zero (2704n) and using Safari, try a different web browser as suggested by JayG.

@Martiinn

Post what device you're trying to use to login, PC/Mac/Tablet/Phone etc, and the model. It may help us to understand why it isn't working.

Re: Router password incorrect

I reset the router to factor settings and managed to log on using a different web browser.
Thanks for the advice.
