Looking to replace the router that PN gave us as the wifi is rubbish and when I phoned them they were not interested. What I need to know is if I go and get a better one, is it just a matter of plugging in and using it, or will it have to be programed before it will work? If so is this a difficult process or something that I could do, bearing in mind I am no computer expert?
Thanks, Nigel
Fixed! Go to the fix.

Any non Plusnet issued modem/router will need some setting up but it's a very simple process. Many of us get a BT Smarthub 6 from an auction site such as Ebay because they are cheap and better than Plusnet's devices. These are a little more complicated to set up but most find these instructions easy to follow. https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Using-the-BT-Smarthub-6-on-a-Plusnet-Account/td-p/1587673
Edit
If you go shopping for an alternative device you do NOT want a router, you need a combined ADSL/VDSL modem/router.
