I wonder if anyone can give me any information about the difference in electricity usage between the Open Reach modem & Technicolor TG582n FTTC router that I am currently using & that of the PlusNet Hub One modem router that Plusnet supply now.

@Skippy70 have you read that smart meters have a relay in them so the electricity company can cut you off remotely. https://www.nickhunn.com/when-smart-meters-get-hacked/
That should make you paranoid

@Skippy70 it's why I'm not having one and the difficulty in changing suppliers with the current meters being installed

Biggest users for energy are (in rough order)
- Heating
- Hot Water
- Cooking
- Electric Power showers
- Tumble Dryers
- Washing Machine
- Fridges and/or freezers
- Gaming PC's Old TVs
- TV
- PC
- laptops
- set top box
- phones and tablets
- routers
The top 7 are the biggest ones and those are the ones you may want to look at to see a meaningful reduction in your bills.

Not to forget lighting... Replaced a 300w halogen security light with a 10w LED one and noticed an immediate difference on our bills in the winter.

If it is a 300W light, then I would call that HEATING
But point taken and I'll edit the list.
Edit: But I cannot as it has been too long since the original post.
