Plusnet hub one noise!

Hi all. New here.

So I joined plusnet on monday, and got the fibre extra package. One thing that worries me a bit is that the router makes a screeching noise on an off (similar to a sound of a cricket at night!!!), whether im surfing the net, playing a game, or idle!

Is this normal?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Plusnet hub one noise!

There will be a ticket on your account shortly, I'm sending a new router out to you but we'd like to get that one back here for testing.

Re: Plusnet hub one noise!

Thanks Chris.

The noise isn't always there, but last night it was doing it non stop and the night before that regardless of what I was doing on the net (ie: gaming, surfing or nothing at all)!!

Anyway, I'll send the router back, once I receive the new router.

From what was said in a thread I dealt with regarding the same issue. It seems some of the hub ones are making this noise when a 5GHz connection is in use but not when only using the 2.4GHz connection.

While you've still got the device that has this problem, it may be worth splitting off the 5GHz and 2.4GHz SSIDs and making connections on each frequency to see if the problem is isolated to just the 5GHz connection.

Re: Plusnet hub one noise!

It seems as if the 5GHz connection is the issue here. But why does it do it?

Btw, I'm not going to be charged for the replacement router, am I right? I mean i've only reported a noise coming from the router.

Re: Plusnet hub one noise!

If I'm honest, I'm not entirely sure why some routers are doing this on 5GHz.

The replacement router will have been sent free of charge.

Re: Plusnet hub one noise!

Hi HarryB,

I also posted in the other thread about the buzzing noise from my Hub One but at the time I was told "if it doesn't effect performance then we can't do anything about it". As mine is still making this noise (occurs on both 2.4 and 5GHz) and it's highly annoying in the evening is there any chance we can get a replacement router?
