Plusnet Hub One usb storage question.

Is there a maximum size storage you add to the PlusNet Hub One USB port?

Re: Plusnet Hub One usb storage question.

@Timalay

Given that the Hub One is a BT HomeHub 5 Type A minus FON and branding changes, any issues with USB will be the same.

And that means that it is most likely to be 2TB but on the BT Forums some people seem to have issues with that size while others don't. Might be worth while checking out those threads across at BT community first before buying anything.

edit to correct size

Don't you mean 2TB? I've had no problems using a 500GB drive.

Re: Plusnet Hub One usb storage question.

Hi Timalay,

Thank you for your query regarding the USB port on the Plusnet Hub One router. To clarify this for you there aren't any limits in terms of capacity for the file system but the maximum power draw on the port is 500mA so the HDD/Storage device can't exceed can't exceed this.

Re: Plusnet Hub One usb storage question.

Awesome thanks for this.

Is the USB port in the Hub One USB 2.0 or 3.0?

EDIT: seems to be usb 2.0 according to wikipedia page for the BT HH5 router.

Re: Plusnet Hub One usb storage question.

Another quick question on this. I can access my HDD attached to the router USB no problems on a windows computer. I have a small Acer One laptop attached to the TV as a media centre and that is running Linux Mint. That will access my computer share but it cant find the routers HDD. Any ideas or even if i need third part software what would that be?

Cheers

Re: Plusnet Hub One usb storage question.

You should be able to discover the router and the usb attached by My Network.  I think it is called something like PSNETHUB on the network.

Or you should be able to access it by 192.168.1.254 or 192.168.1.254/usb1 or smb://192.168.1.254/usb1

If this doesnt work, and you get en error like 'the device is refusing connections' you probably need to provide login credentials for the router (ie admin / adminpassword) in addition to the IP address above.

Re: Plusnet Hub One usb storage question.

If I use a powered usb hub connected to the router, will the router allow me to access multiple hard drives over the network connected to the hub?
