So, you can restrict access to other users on your network easily. Great.
Except those users, once they've got access, have exactly the same abilities as you do.
They can instantly view the settings, and change them and you can't even hide your password, it automatically appears in the field, with the option to show the characters.
And in any case, anyone can reset the hub and restore everything to default settings, at the press of a button.
What's the point of that?

Surely it's not beyond the wit of men to require a password to access the hub?

Surely it's more important to keep unauthorised people off your network rather than restricting those already with access? Yes people in your house may be able to access settings but what about keeping nosy neighbours and others from using your wireless emissions to get on to your network in the first place.

Non sequitur.
The password required to access the network in the first place prevents unauthorised access.
Access control is specifically to control access for those who have the password.
The point is, it's demonstrably useless and doesn't provide controlled access to anyone with even a modicum of internet savvy.
