Plusnet Broadband Firewall

The Plusnet website has a setting for broadband firewall in my account. Is that the same as the router firewall which is enabled as standard according to the router settings page?

It is nothing to do with your router, it is an account firewall at PlusNet's end of your connection. I don't have it enabled as I have adequate security in my router.(not a PlusNet router by the way)

So is Plusnet's firewall similar to Windows own firewall (or any other third party like zonealarm/kaspersky etc)?
