PC unable to find HDD attached to router usb.

I've plugged in a powered WD HDD to the usb of the router.

When I access the Router hub with the pc, in the Home Network - Devices section I see all

the devices attached wirelessly but no sign of the HDD.

Is this a problem with the Router settings?

Is there something I need to do to the Network, the router or the HDD to make the HDD visible to the Network.

Finally, my intention is to dump all my dvds onto the HDD and access it with my TV using the wifi connection. .

Is this feasable?

cheers

Hi there.

How big is the HDD? As far as I'm aware HDDs up to 500GB are supported.

I think its 4Tb, and that explains the problem.

As the HDD only has a USB port. can you suggest any other way of accessing it through my TV?

Plugging the HDD directly into the TV isn't an option

Re: PC unable to find HDD attached to router usb.

If I partition the HDD into 500Gb sections would I be able to map them individually to my pc/tv and access all of the HDD that way?

Not sure there is any other way to be honest unless it's a NAS drive.

It's possible although it's difficult for us to advise definitively as it's a not a feature of the router we 100% support. Using a USB to HDMI adapter plugging it into your TV that way may do the trick but not something I'd be able to guarantee.

No problem. Let us know how it goes, I'd be interested to know if/how you get it working.
