Are you using the same DSL cable with the modem's and the Hub One ?

Re: Orbi RBR40 suddenly can't connect to internet but Plusnet Hub One still can

@MisterW Yes I am, just unplugging from Hub1 and into the modem.  Even tried new ethernet cables between the modem and Orbi router.

Raised a ticket to Plusnet to see if they can check the line is working as expected

If the Hub one works then there's not much wong with the line.

Clutching at straws here, but have you tried the DSL cable that came with the modem?

No point, until you've got a solid DSL light on the modem, its not going to work.

It's the one that I'm actually using now with the Hub One perfectly fine.  Will try and borrow a friend's setup to see if I can isolate the fault...

Appreciate all the help guys, thanks for trying!  Will report back if I ever get a solution 😀

Re: Orbi RBR40 suddenly can't connect to internet but Plusnet Hub One still can

is the synch speed on the hub 1 the same as when hooked up with the modem / Orbi?

Re: Orbi RBR40 suddenly can't connect to internet but Plusnet Hub One still can

the speed at which the router connects.
rough way to check is to do a speed test. have you done that since the hub1 is connected?
any different to the orbi?

Re: Orbi RBR40 suddenly can't connect to internet but Plusnet Hub One still can

Currently One Hub is pushing about 30Mbps.  Orbi would have been 50-60 consistently as I happened to test it last week before it stopped working.

I had assumed that might just be down to the Hub One not having quite the same range/strength though

Re: Orbi RBR40 suddenly can't connect to internet but Plusnet Hub One still can

@dvorak I dont think @sungshine will be able to see the synch speed when using the modem!

1) it doesnt seem to be establishing synch and 2) even if it did, unless its an unlocked HG612 you cant see the synch speeds

Re: Orbi RBR40 suddenly can't connect to internet but Plusnet Hub One still can

@MisterW I was thinking historically - i.e. a speedtest result from previously against one now.
i.e. could the hub one be managing to hold synch at a lower rater than the modem.
long shot, clutching at straws etc..

Re: Orbi RBR40 suddenly can't connect to internet but Plusnet Hub One still can

Good point!.

I'm really confused that two HG612's cant synch whilst a Hub One can. The modem in the HG612 is much better than the Hub one!.

I wonder, @sungshine do you know whether your cabinet is an ECI or Huawei one ? https://kitz.co.uk/adsl/cabinet-lookup.htm

The Hub one has a Lantiq chipset wheras the HG612 is Broadcom. Certainly, the broadcom chipset is better when connected to a Huawei cab, maybe the Lantiq chipset is better with an ECI cab...

Which still doesnt explain why it used to work but doesnt now...

Re: Orbi RBR40 suddenly can't connect to internet but Plusnet Hub One still can

Clutching at straws here but:
Is the same power supply being used for both HG612s could the power supply be faulty?
Does either HG612 synch on another line?

Re: Orbi RBR40 suddenly can't connect to internet but Plusnet Hub One still can

Openreach were out this morning and found a pretty big fault in the line, plus the fact my cable was 4 inches underwater at the point it connected with the rest of the street probably didn't help, plus cable somewhere had some other fault where I was only getting half speed.

Once that was completed I literally plugged the modem + Orbi back in and DSL was solid green within about 10 seconds.

Just wanted to thank everyone who helped try and fix the issue.  It was very much appreciated.  Still baffles me how Plusnet One router could pick up the weakened signal when the better hardware couldn't!

I will now try to figure out how to close this post....
