Optimise ASUS AC66U + Openreach Modem

Hello all,

Ive got my openreach modem and ASUS AC66U running just fine and this might seem like a daft question but i wanted to know if there is any configuration optimisations that can be done to improve speed/stability.

My WAN settings are attached.

Perhaps there is a tweak in another section that is recommended?

Perhaps auto DNS is not so good?

Anyway.... if you have anything for me please let me know

There's not really much to play with.

Automatically assigned DNS will mean you're using Plusnet's resolvers. Some round here might argue that using an external DNS provider like Google, Quad9 or Cloudfare might yield some benefits, but I'm of the opinion that it's unlikely you'd notice (our DNS servers are also much 'closer' than any third parties).

I'm not sure what 'Enable VPN + DHCP Connection' is supposed to be doing. You don't have any of those settings populated, so perhaps worth disabling.

You could try changing the MTU to 1500 which might bring some efficiencies if the router supports baby jumbo frames, but again, I doubt you'd notice any difference.

In short, if it ain't broke; don't fix it Wink
