Making use of old phone socket (Routing ethernet through it?)

Hi guys,

My Plusnet fibre connection is routed via a DSL line downstairs. My PC is upstairs, however by my desk is an old BT phone socket, that seems to be inactive (but is wired up to the socket downstairs).

Is there any way I can use this socket to pass through an ethernet connection from the router downstairs, and then into my PC upstairs?

Attachment 1 shows the downstairs DSL connection, and redundant phone connector. Attachment two shows the yellow ish old phone socket under my desk I hope I can use

Thank you

Sadly, no.

What I have done is used an old phone cable as a "draw wire" for a new piece of Cat 5 cable over a tricky part of a cable route.

You have to be "lucky" to get it to work but it avoided a nasty piece of floorboard lifting.

Otherwise (and a bit hit and miss) the mains Ethernet extenders (mains plugs) can be useful.

@dillonpanthers7

Do you want to move just the Router?

I have edited one of your photo's slightly:

Master SocketMaster Socket

Does the cable I have pointed the arrow at, go to the other socket?

Kind Regards,
