Making 5 GHz have separate SSID with the Hub One?

So when scanning, you see:

  • ConnectionName (2.4 GHz)
  • ConnectionName (5 GHz)

Is this possible?

Force Chromecast v2 to use 5 GHz with Hub One?

The Chromecast v2 supports 5 GHz but according to the Hub One homepage, it's currently using 2.4 GHz.

 

Does anyone know how I can force the Chromecast onto 5 GHz?

Yes it is possible.

 

Log into the Hub One by pointing a web browser to   192.168.1.254

Go to 'Advanced Settings' -> 'Wireless'.

 

Click on 5 GHz wireless tab

Change the 'Sync with 2.4 GHz' to 'No'.

Assign your new wireless SSID name. eg. ConnectionName-5GHz

 

Click on 2.4 GHz wireless tab

Assign your new wireless SSID name. eg. ConnectionName-2.4GHz

 

Most of the above steps are shown from 2min 30sec in the video available at this Plusnet help page under 'How to check or change my wi-fi settings'
