Mac laptop won’t connect to router.

Can anyone help with suggestions please. I am a silver surfer so although I can use the internet I don’t understand the workings behind it. Did google problem and someone said plusnet reset router remotely but when I rang them they just send another router which is just as useless

Re: Mac laptop won’t connect to router.

Are you connecting via a cable or wifi? If wifi try turning off temporarily, wifi security.

Can your mac then connect?

If so, problem is with your username or password. P/word is on bottom of router, unless you've changed it.

Username is what you determined when you signed up with P Net.

Re: Mac laptop won’t connect to router.

Which router have you got?

What lights are showing on the router?

Assuming that you are using wireless are you using the wireless password to connect to your Mac, not your account password?

Re: Mac laptop won’t connect to router.

@CindyBrown

Does anything else work OK on the broadband (tablet, phone etc.) ?

What does the Mac WiFi icon (usually at top right) say when you clock on it ?

Does it say AirPort On (greyed out) ?

Any WiFi networks listed ?

I am the satisfied customer....

Re: Mac laptop won’t connect to router.

Absolutely everything else connects with no problem, iPhone, iPad, other laptops plus all other gadgets needing internet. When I turn on it says searching for WiFi and mine shows up in the long list but when I put password in it says it’s invalid ( yes it’s the password I use to connect everything else 😊).

Re: Mac laptop won’t connect to router.

Are there any special charscters in your password? It might be worth going into the router advanced settings and trying something different.
