Laptop disconnects from router

Hi there,

Does anyone have any idea why my laptop sometimes disconnects from the router? Its just my laptop, everything else (my kids laptops, phones, PS4) all work. I remember I had this problem a few years ago and I think I was advised to delete something (in hardware I think) then install it again but I cant think what it was. The only way I have found of 'solving' the problem is to switch the router off and on but id prefer not to do that indefinitely and rather find the cause if possible. TIA

I'm sincerely sorry to hear of this issue.

I'm assuming that you're connecting wirelessly, is this the case?

Also, as @dvorak asks - Are you using a Windows or Apple machine?

Hi, thanks for replying. Yes it's wireless and Windows 10 (Lenovo laptop)

Hi @Bright8 it might be worth first trying to update the wireless driver in the Laptop to see if this is causing a problem. This might help, but if not can you provide the model of the Lenovo Laptop?

Hi there, thanks for replying. This link you sent me is familiar, I remember device manager and network adapters being mentioned.My laptop is ideapad 320s 14IKB. I havent done anything yet, so will I just go ahead (later on today) and follow the instructions? SHould I do a backup first? thanks

I'm afraid that's starting leave the remit of what we can advise on as staff, but I'd say if you follow the instructions included on the relevant guide then you should be fine. If there's further issues following this it'd be best to contact your manufacturer for further support.
