Hi, Not sure if anyone has the same issue.
I have a PlusNet Router connected to both WIFI and Ethernet connected clients. All have been working well until this morning.
Wifi clients are still connected but none of the Ethernet clients can connect to the internet. Have reset all clients, including resetting card firmware. Connecting direct to the Router also does not work (so not a network switch issue and have tried different cables).
Only thing that does work is a Dell RJ45 to USB dongle when connected direct to a cable to the router.
Have a spare PlusNet router which has the same issue - so not faulty hardware.
Having spoken to an engineer the only suggestion was to disable the router firewall which I have done but to no avail.
My Firm's IT team are certain it is an IP addressing issue with the router - any other thoughts?

Do wired clients get valid IP, gateway IP, DNS IP from the router? Can they access the router admin page? Can they ping the router IP (e.g. 192.168.x.x) ? Can they ping 212.159.6.9 (Plusnet DNS server)? Can they ping wikipedia.org ?

Hi bbpn, no wired clients a transmit failed. General Failure message trying to ping the router.
When pinging from the main network card on the machine currently linked via the USB dongle I get a reply from an interim host that says destination host unreachable

Are there Ethernet LEDs on your router, if so, do they light up when devices are connected and turned on (or take a photo and attach here)?
If the wired client runs Windows, can you type in command "ipconfig" ?, if it runs non-Windows, can you type in command "ip address" , and paste the output here?

Hi, yes Router LEDs are flashing showing data transmitting.
IPCONFIG when directly connected to router is:

When you connect directly to the router and ipconfig outputs "Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254", can you run commands "ping 192.168.1.254" , "ping 212.159.6.9" , "ping wikipedia.org" , then paste the output here?

Does this computer have problems accessing the Internet or not? I assume it can access wikipedia.org ?

Hi bbpn - This computer can access the internet when connected directly to the PlusNet router - I have lost the ability to connect via a switch.
Full network was working yesterday, today I have tried 3 different switches but none will pass a network signal through.

When I saw that statement, I thought nothing worked when using wired connection. Do you have the model number of the switches? Are they dumb non-vlan level 2 switches? When switch is connected to router, does the relevant LED light up?

Hi bbpn , sorry to mislead but have a number of PCs that seem to be having different issues.
Have just tried using a brand new tp-link LS1005G 5-port gigabit switch,
When connected to the router I get green flashing LEDs both ends, plus green flashing LEDs on both ends of the cable connection to my PCs.
I can ping the Router but cannot ping the 212.159.6.0 which I assume is a DNS, and have no internet,
If I attach the same cable from the router direct to my HP PC I get the IPCONFIG and PING details you have seen.
If I connect the cable to my Dell network card I get no connection at all, but if I connect to a Dell USB dongle I get full internet.
It has taken several iterations to get to this point.

The DNS server is 212.159.6.9 (not .0).
Can you try "ping 192.168.1.254" "ping 91.198.174.192" (wikipedia.org IP, don't use PN DNS as it was a bit flaky earlier), and "ping wikipedia.org" for those configurations that you have problems with? Could you also describe the configurations like this PC1.Eth1 -> router, PC2.Eth1 -> switch -> router, PC1.USB1 -> dongle -> switch -> router?
