Hub2 to replace Echolife HG612 and Technicolor TG582n

When I first signed up with Plusnet, I was given a BT Openreach Echolife HG612 modem and Technicolor TG582n router. When I renewed my contract recently, I was sent the new Hub Two as they said this was required for my new service. I have a couple of questions:

1. Everything still seems to be working fine, so is it worth upgrading to the new Hub2 given I will have to reconnect all our devices plus Tp-link range extender and Hypervolt EV chargepoint to the new network with all the glitches that may or may not throw up?

2. If I do upgrade does the Hub2 replace both the HG612 and TG582n or just the latter?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Hub2 to replace Echolife HG612 and Technicolor TG582n

Fix

@Alan365 Welcome to the forums. it may be a pain to reconnect everything, but the HG612 and TG582n are now very old and no longer supported with updates, so I  would suggest the results would be worth the effort.

The Hub2 is a combined modem/router, so would replace both your current items in one box, and should give better performance.

@Alan365

Once you install the Hub2 you can change the wireless settings to what you currently use - hopefully this saves having to change all you devices.

Thanks John, will go ahead with the upgrade, possibly using the suggestion by @bmc (cheers Brian).

@Alan365

Don't know about the Technicolor but the Echolife could be worth about a tenner on eBay.

You could also keep it as back up. Some modern units are router only so if you ever look to change to a two unit setup again you have a modem if required.

Thanks for the advice, will probably keep it as a backup as you suggest.

Cheers, Alan
