Hub One Firmware Update?

I've not been using my Plusnet Hub One for a while (a number of years!) but it's recently (last week or so) been plugged in after the death of a third-party modem/router and is being used again.

It is currently using the following firmware:

Plusnet Hub One | Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.226 | Last updated 12/01/17

I'd like to get a firmware update pushed to it so that it is up to date. How can I ensure that this happens?

Cheers

Steve

Re: Hub One Firmware Update?

@stevemc Unless the hardware guru @bobpullen  see this, you have no chance - that Hub will have fallen off the hardware maintenance platform a long while ago, and its current software version cannot be auto-updated, anyway.

Re: Hub One Firmware Update?

@stevemc Welcome to the forum.

I've a feeling that hubs with firmware that old are no longer supported by the automatic update platform. You need a Plusnet staffer to come along and advise whether it needs replacing.

@jab1 types quicker than me!

Re: Hub One Firmware Update?

@stevemc - the guys are right, no way to update a device running a version that old. The certificates used for remote management have changed since your hub was manufactured.

I can arrange for a replacement to be shipped if you like?

@bobpullen Yes, I would like to take up the offer of a replacement. Can you ascertain my details or do I need to message you separately?

Re: Hub One Firmware Update?

Hi Bob,

Like Steve, I've also not been using my Plusnet Hub One for a similar number of years for the same reason, but keep it in case it's required by Plusnet to diagnose a line problem if required.

It is currently using the following firmware:

Plusnet Hub One | Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.237.2.2 | Last updated 14/08/17

Would you be able to arrange for the router to be replaced, please?

Cheers

Tony

Re: Hub One Firmware Update?

@j-t - are you using it/planning on using it? If not, then I'd rather we weren't sending another unit out for it to sit in a cupboard somewhere Wink

Re: Hub One Firmware Update?

@bobpullen

That's a very fair point.

However, I do wonder how Plusnet would support me if there was a suspected line fault and I was using a third-party router.
As this is now off-topic, where is the best place to have this discussion?

Re: Hub One Firmware Update?

I am also running old firmware on hub one.

Currently, the router has:

3. Firmware version: Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.226 Last updated Unknown
4. Board version: Plusnet Hub One

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Peter

Re: Hub One Firmware Update?

@peteradie I suspect that your Hub has 'fallen off' the management platform. Has it always been connected and powered up? I don't think a Hub running such old f/w can be updated, though.

Re: Hub One Firmware Update?

Hi,
Thanks @jab1 for the prompt reply. Much appreciated.

As far as I know the router has always been plugged in and powered on.

If the firmware can't be upgraded, can the router be replaced?

I'd prefer to run with a fully patched router, for obvious reasons.

Cheers,
Peter

Re: Hub One Firmware Update?

@peteradie If it has always been powered up and plugged in, it has fallen off the management platform - a long time ago.

I'll tag @bobpullen (the Tech guru on here), and hope he picks this up next time he visits - he's the man for this.

Re: Hub One Firmware Update?

@jab1 Thanks John. Much appreciated.

I only noticed this by accident when I was browsing the forums earlier and saw the pinned post about firmware updates here.
