I can't see why the Hub 2 in bridge mode wouldn't work (it is doing exactly the same as the Draytek Vigor 130), but is there any reason not to continue to use the Vigor 130?

In its default configuration, yes the Vigor 130 is just a modem. However VLAN insertion and a PPPoE client can be configured on it whereas the Hub 2 in bridge mode has no options, it will insert VLAN tag 101 and there is no PPPoE client option.

So if the 130 has been changed from the default, and the Velop changed to match e.g insert VLAN tag 101, that could explain why it doesnt work with the Hub 2
