How to add a mesh wireless router?

I have invested in a Mercusys  AC1200 Dual Band Wireless Router AC12 to extend the internet coverage in my house. When connected to the WAN port on my PlusNet Hub One router

Connection Type             Static IP

                                           Dynamic IP

PPPoE                  Is this the correct option?

                                           L2TP

                                           PPTP

Username                                      My PlusNet user name

Password                                        My PlusNet password

Server IP/Domain Name                            What should I enter here?

Then for the PPPoE option:-

The connection should then self-populate. But it doesn’t.

Internet IP          0.0.0.0

Internet DNS     0.0.0.0

Options then are:-

Dynamic IP         or          Static IP                             Is Static IP the best option?

The connection should then self-populate. But it doesn’t.

IP Address          0.0.0.0

Subnet Mask     0.0.0.0

Gateway             0.0.0.0

DNS Server         0.0.0.0

There is an ‘advanced option’ to populate, manually, these values but I am at a loss as to where to find them and which values to use.

Can anyone help, please.

Welcome to the forum Smiley

What you’re trying to do won’t work. The hub one doesn’t support modem only mode which is what you’d need to have.
Options are either
- Turn off the routing functions of the mesh.
- buy a separate modem.

Most of the mesh systems are designed with markets like the USA in mind where a ISP just provides a modem and you can connect any router to it.

Re: How to add a mesh wireless router?

@Ray773  Welcome to the forum.

I'm afraid that this will not work. The Hub One cannot be used as a bridge modem. You have two choices.

1. Configure your Mesh system as an Access Point and connect it to a LAN socket, not the WAN one.

2. Replace the Hub One with a stand alone Modem. Either buy a new modem or a cheap modem/router that can be configured as a bridge modem. Alternatively go onto an auction site and buy a Model 3B HG 612. With this option you will need to input your Plusnet credentials into the Mesh unit. The settings are here  https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/broadband-connection-settings/

Re: How to add a mesh wireless router?

The WAN port on the Hub1 is an input port, not output as you are trying.

The WAN port of your router needs to connect to a LAN port on the Hub1.

You should not need username or password, the Hub 1 will handle that, and you should use the Access Point settings on your router.
